The Vision of RIA's Economic Vitality Committee

The Economic Vitality Committee focuses on strengthening the economic foundation of Reisterstown by supporting local businesses, attracting new investment, and fostering sustainable growth on Main Street. This committee works to create a thriving commercial district that serves as a vibrant hub for the community.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Recruiting new businesses and supporting existing ones to ensure long-term success.
Filling vacant properties with businesses that align with the character and needs of Main Street.
Developing initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and local investment.
Encouraging partnerships among business owners, property owners, and community stakeholders.
Assisting businesses in navigating resources, grant opportunities, and incentives.
Hosting Monthly Community Business Meetings to foster collaboration, share updates, and provide valuable insights for local businesses.
Launching the Junior Main Street Program, a youth-focused initiative to engage high school students in community involvement, business support, and large-scale Main Street projects. Participants will gain valuable experience, build relationships with local businesses, and contribute to the future of Main Street.

Our monthly Community Business Meetings provide a valuable opportunity for local business owners, property owners, and community members to connect, share updates, and collaborate on initiatives that support the growth of Reisterstown Main Street. Each meeting features guest speakers, important local updates, and our "You Might Want to Know" segment, offering insights on resources and opportunities. Whether you're looking to network, stay informed, or get involved in revitalization efforts, these meetings are the perfect place to engage with the community. Join us each month to be part of the conversation and help shape the future of Reisterstown! Held on the second Tuesday of each month at 11am at Reter’s Crab House & Grille.

As part of our strategic efforts, RIA collaborated on an Access Retail Report to provide an in-depth analysis and develop a retail vision for Main Street. This report outlines actionable steps to:

Fill vacant retail spaces with businesses that support the district’s identity.
Enhance the visual character of storefronts, including considerations for signage.
Recommend streetscape elements that support retailer success and improve the shopping experience.
Address competitive positioning relative to Owings Mills and other nearby Main Streets.
