Organization Committee March meeting was Virtual with a combination of Microsoft Teams and FreeConferenceCall testing the options for other committees. Topics discussed included:
*Fundraising Programs to match needs of our grant awards are our Spring Sponsorships and direct donations to RIA when people pay their Memberships
*2020 Events affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic and canceled so far are Eggstravaganza and PEEPS Contest; postponed until Fall to a date TBD will be the Beer & Wine Festival originally scheduled for April 25th.
*Grants awarded in 2019 will be finalized soon and work will start with teams organizing and planning.
*Search is still on for a WEBMASTER and PR Volunteer to coordinate our advertising and publicity
Clean Safe & Green Committee:
*Dan has been working with Baltimore County Police Department with their request on supplies as per Captain Will Buckingham. So far, I have delivered 9 bottles of bleach and 900 gloves. Still working with my suppliers and getting more materials to help our police department.
*I am canceling our Main Street clean up until further notice. We are going through a very hard time with this virus spreading rapidly. We all need to take serious steps to be safe. Anything I can do to help people in need, please call me. Dan Carey
Main Street Manager:
Report for the work accomplished this past month is attached. Please download and take a look at our busy time before having to practice "social distancing" and closings.
Economic Vitality Committee:This month the Economic Vitality Committee has been busy with several concurrent initiatives.
*We began March with our monthly Economic Roundtable, during which RIA’s Vice President, Wendy Berlinrood, led an exercise to help plan for the coming year’s discussions on business and economic development priorities for Main Street.
*We continued to receive applications for the 2020 round of Facade Improvement Grants, and received a commitment from the state for an additional $60,000 in funding for facade upgrades and streetscape/landscape improvements along the 200 block of Main Street (tied to RIA’s Community Legacy Grant award earlier this year).
*We expect to be able to announce at least one new facade improvement grant winner in the coming weeks.
*We made the very difficult decision to postpone the second annual Reisterstown Beer and Wine Festival, and will announce the new date very soon.
*Finally, with the sudden massive disruption to business as usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly shifted our attention to assisting local businesses with seeking emergency funding to help get through this difficult time.
